Instructions for Using The Global Goals Tool

Welcome to The Global Goals Tool – a guided experience designed to help you explore how your organisation or initiative (program, project or service) aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

You will be guided through each of the 17 Goals one at a time, and invited to select the specific Goals, Targets, and Indicators that reflect your work.

  • If a Goal does not apply to your work, simply click Next to move to the next Goal.

  • If you need to return to a previous page, use the Previous button at any time.

  • When you are done with your selections, click Submit to finalise your responses.

  • You’ll receive a personalised report summarising your selected Goal(s), Target(s), and Indicator(s) via email.

Steps to Complete the Global Goal Tool

Step 1: Explore Each Goal

  • The tool will present each of the 17 Global Goals one at a time.

  • Read the brief description of each Goal.

  • If the Goal aligns with your organisation’s or initiative’s work, tick the checkbox to select it.

  • You’ll then move to the next screen to view the Targets related to that Goal.

Step 2: Select Relevant Targets

  • Review the list of Targets associated with the selected Goal.

  • Tick any Target(s) that reflect your organisation’s or initiative’s work or focus.

  • For each Target selected, you’ll be taken to a new screen showing the related Indicators.

Step 3: Choose Aligned Indicators

  • Explore the Indicators linked to each selected Target.

  • Tick any Indicator(s) that align with your organisation’s or initiative’s core activities.

Step 4: Repeat for Other Goals

  • After completing one Goal (Goal → Target(s) → Indicator(s)), you’ll be taken to the next Goal.

  • Repeat Steps 1 - 3 for any additional Goals that are relevant.

  • If a Goal does not apply, simply click Next to move to the next Goal.

Step 5: Submit and Receive Your Summary

  • Once you’ve worked through all 17 Goals (or as many as apply), you’ll reach the final page.

  • Enter your email address and click Submit.

  • You’ll receive a personalised summary report by email, listing all the Goal(s), Target(s), and Indicator(s) you selected.
