Results-Based Accountability is a robust and structured way of going from talk to action in a very short time. It enables you to focus on outcomes, takes a common sense approach and uses plain language. It provides a disciplined way of having continuous improvement conversations with like-minded stakeholders.

Results Based Accountability enables you to articulate very simply that the individuals and communities you serve are ‘better off’; it helps reinforce a culture of reflection on your practices and processes; it allows you to extract useful and meaningful data; and it supports the development of innovative programs & services and advocates for policies based on robust evidence.

If you are a program manager working in a not-for-profit organisation or a social enterprise or a charity; or even at a Council – this is for you. It’s OK if you are new to outcomes thinking - what’s most important is that you want to know how to articulate with clarity and to measure the difference you are making.

The course/package is not ideally suited to someone who is averse to change and are happy to keep doing the same thing and to get the same results. At the crux, RBA is about continuous improvement, and it is about change - changing what you are currently doing and/or doing it differently to achieve different and better results.

RBA provides the opportunity to think differently about success. You will have the ability to tell your clients’ stories to attract more funding; join the social impact movement to attract like-minded stakeholders and partners. And if you are a council staff you will have the ability to speak the language of your communities - leading to strengthened connections with them.

RBA was created by Mark Friedman, who has extensive experience in public administration and public policy. He has written extensively on the subjects of social change, organisational performance, management, budgeting, and strategic planning.

Mark’s widely acclaimed Results-Based Accountability framework has been used widely in the United States and in 15 countries around the world.

I am Elaine Hendrick, a leading RBA practitioner in Australia and Singapore. I have spent 25+ years of my career searching for a more robust way of measuring program and organisational success. I found the answer in the RBA thinking. I have extensive experience in building the capability of staff in the for-purpose sector and have coached in RBA implementation at all levels within organisations.
